Before his days with the Nixon White House and The Beatles, Bernie was a Special Forces commando & expert in concealment. In the picture below, Bernie is seen practicing near the Black River in Chester, New Jersey.

This is a very rare print, the original Abbey Road photograph confirming Bernie was actually the "Fifth Beatle"
After much discussion with John, Paul, George, Bernie and Ringo, it was George Martin, who produced nearly all the Beatles' recordings, that decided the album cover released to consumers should not include Bernie since he was a former White House advisor.
The only other copy of this picture known to exist is in Yoko Ono's personal photo album.
Notice Paul's bare feet, meant to further the rumor at that time that he was dead. Placing Bernie in the background (and on the left), on the other hand, was meant to portray Bernie as opposed to "political and social orthodoxy", choosing a "gentle and nondoctrinaire" political approach that favoured "peace, love, and personal freedom."
Furious that Nixon had failed to listen, Bernie became disheartened regarding further political involvement and saw the counter-culture movement, which was gaining popularity in those days, as the most effective way to communicate his opposition to the war.
Originally titled "Fritz the Cat and Bernie Go to College" , the animated feature film of the early 1970's "Fritz the Cat" is a satire on college life of the 1960s. While Fritz and Bernie do not attend any classes during the movie, they participate in major social upheavals based around the popular college protest movement of the time.
Released to theaters in 1972, "Fritz the Cat" was the first animated feature film to be rated X, something that had been unheard of in American movies up until this film. Some think this was due to the Nixon Whitehouse attempting to have the film's release blocked as a power-play against Bernie.
Needless to say; Nixon was livid that one of his former senior advisors would get involved with such a project and never spoke with Bernie again.

Vistitors to the bar may not know of Bernie's past career as a Republican political advisor. Here he is seen after advising President Nixon on ending the Vietnam War. Nixon failed to follow Bernie's advise and the war dragged on for several years.
